It was a Friday night when star football player Dane* took a hard hit and was evaluated by EMS. Dane was diagnosed with a concussion and in the days following the game, experienced severe headaches, sensitivity to light and noise, as well as difficulty concentrating, irritability, and sometimes a ringing in his ear. Because of these symptoms, Dane was not able to get his assignments done for school and was falling behind in his classes after only a few days. He wasn’t able to pay attention during practice and everyone thought that he was acting weird. Dane finally came to Mulka Medical Institute where he was evaluated and diagnosed with post concussive syndrome. He was prescribed physical and cognitive rest for one week. After the one week of rest, he had resolution of his headaches, sensitivity to light and sound. He was able to catch up on his schoolwork and got right back onto the football field.
